MAISANO TOO QUICK FOR EVERYBODY IN MISANO
The frenchman of Prema Powerteam clinches the first win of the weekend after dominating qualifying with double pole position.
07/07/2012 - Brandon Maisano took his second win of the season in the first race of the weekend on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
After getting two pole positions in the morning qualifying the frenchman was too quick for his rivals also in the race, that he led from flag to flag. Behind him, very close for the whole race, was his Prema Powerteam team mate Eddie Cheever. The young gun from Rome was never close enough to the FDA driver , but always tried to put pressure on him.

Riccardo Agostini was third with the JD Motorsport run Mygale. After the race Riccardo was happy with his podium finish and for leading the rookie standings of the European series, but was also a bit disappointed because after half race he couldn't keep the same pace of the leading duo. The one-two for Prema and the third place for Agostini were the leit-motifs of the Misano saturday, as that was the result of both qualis and Race 1.

Euronova's Sergey Sirotkin ended the race in 4th place, making up three places in the race as he started from P7. Maxim Jousse was 5th, at his second start this season with BVM. The fight for sixth place was a tight one until the end of the race with Henrique Martins (Prema), Mario Marasca (BVM), Nicholas Latifi (JD Motorsport) and Kevin Giovesi (Ghinzani) all pushing as much as they could.

With three laps to the end of the race, Marasca spun at the exit of the Misano corner and while trying to avoid him Latifi and Martins made contact, putting an end to their race. So Kevin Giovesi crossed the line in sixth place at his first start with Team Ghinzani. This also mean that the driver from Milan will start from pole in Race 3 after starting last in Race 1! Roman De Beer was seventh with the Victoria World Mygale, ahead of Mario Marasca, who was slowed down by the clash between Martins and Latifi. Ninth place for Yoshitaka Kuroda, the last non-lapped driver with the Euronova Dallara.

After the first race in Misano Eddie Cheever is still leading the standings ahead of Brandon Maisano and Riccardo Agostini. Together with the 15 points for second place Cheever bagged one point for the quickest lap of the race. In the Italian series Maisano leads ahead of Cheever, while Sirotkin lies third.

Tomorrow Race 2 will start at 10.00 live on Rai Sport 2 and on www.acisportitalia.it, while the weekend will be closed by the 15' Sprint Race at 6.45 PM, again live on Rai Sport 2.
